Sometimes due to several possible reasons (driver issues, updates, printer errors etc), your printer will go offline, meaning anything you try to print will just go into the print queue but will not actually print
The instructions below show you how to set the printer back online so that printing resumes
Windows 8/10/11
Windows 8 - Right click on the Start Menu button and choose Control Panel - then click View devices and printers in the Hardware and Sound section
Windows 10/11 - Type 'control' in the box down bottom left corner which says Type here to search, and then click Control Panel in the menu that appears - then click View devices and printers in the Hardware and Sound section
Double click on the problematic printer click where it says x document(s) in queue (as circled in red below)
In the window that appears click Printer and if Use Printer Offline is ticked then your printer is currently offline - click on the menu item to remove the tick and the printer should now start printing again
Windows 7
Open Control Panel and click on View Devices and Printers
Right mouse click on the problematic printer and select See what's printing
In the window that appears click Printer and if Use Printer Offline is ticked then your printer is currently offline - click on the menu item to remove the tick and the printer should now start printing again
Windows XP/Vista
Open Control Panel and click on Printers and Faxes
Right mouse click on the problematic printer and a menu will appear as shown below
If the printer is offline then it will say "Use Printer Online" in the menu - click this to change it to "Use Printer Offline" and the printer should now start printing again
